Read the volcanic terrain
The valleys combine earthen paths, soft rock, narrow passages and slopes cut by erosion. Distance alone says little about effort. A short circuit may require care after rain or on loose descents. The rock-cut sites belong to a protected cultural landscape, so follow authorised paths and local access rules.
Design a realistic day
Choose one main valley and a clearly identified exit point. Add a second valley only if the group still has enough time and energy in reserve. A transfer can simplify the route, but the pickup point must be agreed in advance. Cultural visits and walking stages have different rhythms and should be planned separately.
Adapt to the conditions
Sun, wind and mud can change comfort quickly. Carry suitable protection and enough water for the planned route. After heavy rain, avoid eroded gullies and choose more stable ground. An offline map or downloaded GPS track helps with navigation but never replaces observation.
Keep a simple alternative
If an entrance is closed or progress is slower than expected, return to the exit point identified in advance. A coherent route matters more than ticking off as many valleys as possible.
